David Malkin, MD, FRCPC, FRSC, FAACR

Dr. David Malkin is a Professor of Pediatrics and Medical Biophysics at The University of Toronto, and a Staff Oncologist, Division of Hematology-Oncology, Senior Scientist, Genetics & Genome Biology Program and Director, Cancer Genetics Program at The Hospital for Sick Children where he holds the CIBC Children’s Foundation Chair in Child Health Research.

He co-leads the SickKids Precision Child Health initiative, co-directs the SickKids Cancer Sequencing program and is the Director of the pan-Canadian PROFYLE initiative.


David’s research focuses on the genetic mechanisms of childhood cancer susceptibility and addresses the application of genomics to early detection and treatment approaches for children and adults at genetic ‘high risk’ for cancer.


He has published over 300 peer-reviewed manuscripts and received numerous national and international awards recognizing his clinical, research, and mentorship work including a Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Community Award, and elected Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, and the American Association of Cancer Research.
