Dr. Michel Duval is a pediatrician, hematologist-oncologist and a full professor at the University of Montreal.
In his prior roles, Michel served as the Medical Director, Hematopoietic Transplant and Cell Therapy Program, Charles-Bruneau Cancer Centre, CHU Sainte-Justine and as the Head of CHU Sainte-Justine Hematology-Oncology Division.
His research focuses on immunotherapy for childhood cancers, more specifically on the exploitation of innate immunity after transplantation: Natural Killer cells and their natural activators, plasmacytoid dendritic cells.
The difficult situations faced by his patients and their families has motivated him to pursue a second field of research and teaching: ethics and patient, families and communities’ engagement.
Michel is the co-author of more than 140 scientific articles and a reference book on transplant decision support for families.
