Despite the increase in evidence stemming from research, its use remains limited and access to it remains confined. As a result, health systems are slow to embed research knowledge into everyday practice. However, there is an opportunity to accelerate the uptake of knowledge by recognizing the full scope of knowledge users – patients, families, healthcare providers, industry leaders and policymakers – to ensure that information is provided to the correct individuals, at the appropriate time, and through the media that make the information most accessible. Additionally, we must acknowledge the breadth of expertise that exists within our community, so that we can actively engage all relevant parties throughout the knowledge mobilization process.

The aim of the Knowledge Mobilization Group is to advance information sharing and exchange between researchers, patient communities, and other relevant parties and to improve the uptake of evidence-based knowledge through multiple pathways, methods, and media.

Priorities

  1. Support the pediatric cancer community by providing expertise on how knowledge can be shared and exchanged in meaningful ways.
  2. Develop a sustainable knowledge mobilization plan to increase the knowledge mobilization capacity of the ACCESS community.
  3. Create a Knowledge Mobilization Hub to facilitate the sharing and exchange of knowledge.
  4. Curate an inventory of exemplar novel knowledge mobilization products for the ACCESS community.
  5. Advance knowledge on, and support capacity-building for, the inclusive engagement of youth in pediatric cancer research.
