Pamela Kearns

Pam Kearns is Emeritus Professor of Clinical Pediatric Oncology at the University of Birmingham, where she was Director of the University of Birmingham’s Cancer Research UK Clinical Trials Unit from 2011-2023 and Director of the Institute of Cancer and Genomic Sciences from 2021-2024. Her research is focused of drug development and innovation in the design and delivery of national and international clinical trials for childhood cancers. She is President of ‘Innovative Therapeutics in Childhood Cancer’ (ITCC) and a Founding Board member of ‘ACCELERATE’.  She was President of the European Society of Pediatric Oncology (SIOPE) from 2019 -2021 and continues to serve on the SIOPE Board.

She chairs both the Research Assessment Panel for Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity and the Independent Scientific Advisory Panel for Bone Cancer Research Trust and is a member of UK’s National Institute for Health Research Invention for Innovation (i4i) Funding Committee. She is a Trustee for Cancer Research UK and also Chair of the Board of Trustees for A Child of Mine, a charity dedicated to supporting bereaved parents.
